Just as I enter the market for a new phone (my iPhone has dropped its last call, more on that later) I am immediately re-introduced to the perpetual waiting game of new technology. Fortunately this time, I’m not waiting. AT&T is dead to me, so I’m going back to Blackberry on Verizon.

Engadget has it on “good authority” that the BlackBerry Bold successor, aka Bold 2 / Onyx (it’s not clear which name will hit the streets, but either way it’s the 9700), will be announced on October 21…for AT&T and T-Mobile.

My one complaint about blackberry was always that little roller wheel. It sometimes got lint stuck inside and didn’t work properly. With an optical reader, that problem seems to be solved. I’m looking forward to giving it a go. (also looking forward to the day verizon can offer good phones in real time.)

As a side note, if anyone has any good Blackberry tips, tricks or apps they’d like to share, I am all ears.
